In recent days, thousands of Nepalis have rallied in Kathmandu, advocating for the restoration of the monarchy and the reestablishment of Hinduism as the state religion. On March 9, 2025, over 10,000 supporters of former King Gyanendra Shah gathered outside Tribhuvan International Airport to welcome him back to the capital. This movement reflects growing public frustration with the current political system, which many feel has failed to deliver stability and economic progress since the monarchy was abolished in 2008.
